So, let’s assume that your employer has given you the UAN Number for your PF account and you want to activate it to complete formalities like EPF KYC of EPF Claims.
First, go to EPF Member Portal by clicking here or simply search Member Home on google.
Once you reach the home page of EPFO, go to links provided in the Important Links section. The first link you’ll see is Activate UAN. simply hit that button to go to the UAN Activation Page.
Once you get to this window, enter your UAN Number in the first row.
Then Enter your name as your employer has mentioned while filing your PF. The same has to be done with our date of birth. Once you have entered those details, jump to the Mobile No. section and provide your active mobile number. Remember that the OTP for Activation of your UAN will be sent to this number.
Providing your Email Id is not mandatory but we’ll recommend you to provide it.
Then fill the Captcha code carefully and hit the Get Authorization Pin button.
You’ll receive an OTP on the same mobile number which you have provided. Enter that OTP and click the submit button.
You’ll receive the password through SMS.
Well, this sounds very easy at first and it is very simple until you have a UAN Number and Perfectly filled Name and Date of Birth. So, let’s see:

Well, the process to Activate the UAN Number when you have only a PF number is almost the same as the process of How to Activate UAN Number, you just need to give your PF number instead of UAN Number.
What to do if my Date of Birth or Name is not Matching with UAN Data?
The best way to tackle this issue is to contact your employer and get the exact Name and Date of Birth they have provided to PF Dept. while filing your PF. Once you get the Name and Date of Birth as per PF data, follow the Online UAN Activation process described above with the Name and DOB provided by your employer.
Whether it’s right or wrong, your primary goal should be Activation of UAN. After that, you can Change Basic Details online anytime.
